Open Clearwrite
Put it on your iPhone or iPad home screen
- Tap Open Clearwrite above (in Safari).
- Tap the Share button – at the bottom on iPhone, top right on iPad.
- Choose Add to Home Screen, then Add.
It then opens full-screen like any other app – no App Store, no account.
Download for Android
Use it in the browser instead (iPhone, iPad, laptop)
Installing on Android
- Tap Download for Android and open the file.
- Android will ask to allow installs from your browser – that’s normal for any app outside the Play Store. Allow it once.
- Tap Install. Done.
Handy tricks
- Android: select text in any app → Check with Clearwrite → fix it → Done puts it straight back.
- iPhone: copy text anywhere, tap Paste in Clearwrite, fix it, tap Copy.
- Nothing in your text changes unless you tap a suggestion.
Privacy
- No account, no database: your texts, documents and history are stored only on your phone. Nothing is kept on our server – it only passes text on to the checking services.
- New phone? On the old one tap Docs → Move to a new phone and scan the code with Clearwrite on the new one. Your texts are locked with that code before they leave the phone, kept for 24 hours at most and deleted as soon as they’ve arrived.
- Use Save backup (Docs button) now and then – that file is your copy. New phone? Open Clearwrite, tap Restore my backup and pick the “Clearwrite-Backup” file (on Android, simply tapping the file works too).
- Grammar checks go to LanguageTool; the copied-text check searches Wikipedia and OpenAlex. The deep check, style ideas, tone, rewrites, “Write for me” and the AI estimate use Google Gemini’s free tier, which Google may use to improve its services – don’t paste anything highly private.
- The app only asks for internet access – nothing else.
